The Clerk of Superior Court is the custodian for many court records in Bergen County. Most court records can be viewed online from the Superior Court’s website. For criminal cases, that information includes name, case status, charges, and timeline of court appearances.

For civil cases, court records include plaintiff and defendant names, case status, next court date, date filed, and timeline of court events. Divorce records can also be obtained through the Clerk. There is an online portal that lets you view Superior Court records.

For birth, marriage and death records, you can contact the Office of Vital Statistics.

To submit an open records request, you can contact the Clerk of Superior Court or the County Clerk, depending on the type of record. An open records request is simply an official request to view particular public government or agency documents.

Deeds, which are legal documents regarding the ownership of property or legal rights, can also be obtained from the County Clerk’s Office. There’s an online portal to view records.
